This image represents the Queen Mother of the West seated on a backless throne on a high pedestal. On her head is the characteristic phoenix, now degraded over time which holds back her chignon. She wears a high necked undergarment with decorative collar, tied at the waist attached to a double sash and an over garment with flowing sleeves. Her hands are clasped under a ritualistic cloth, now degraded. Much of the original gilt and red lacquer coating remains, although there is considerable degration and wormage.
